Poland has gained infrastructure that is unique on a European scale and makes it possible to develop and test advanced battery technologies under conditions close to industrial production. Łukasiewicz – Institute of Non-Ferrous Metals (IMN) in Poznań has launched a modern pilot line for prototyping lithium and sodium-ion cells in pouch format.

The infrastructure is a key bridge between scientific research and industrial implementation. It enables a rapid transition from materials developed in the laboratory to testing them under conditions that meet production requirements.

The Łukasiewicz Research Network’s Space Research Program will consist of several dozen research projects planned through 2035. They will focus on three areas: development of satellite platforms and technologies for placing them into orbit, as well as the payloads.

A wagon carriage that will lift oversized loads has been designed by engineers from Lukasiewicz - Poznan Institute of Technology. This is in response to market needs reported for several years, both by the defense industry and the civilian sector, for the safe transportation of extremely heavy equipment by rail. The project is ready for implementation and will enable the transport of tanks, combat vehicles, energy storage or large-scale industrial machinery, among others.

Institutes of the Łukasiewicz Research Network and QEMETICA S.A. will develop innovative products and solutions for industry that will reach the Group’s global customers. The cooperation will also cover dual-use technologies for defense applications.

On Friday, February 20, we presented Lukasiewicz - PIAP robots during the testing of unmanned weapon systems and elements of the SAN anti-drone system. The event was attended by Prof. Jolanta Itrich-Drabarek, Vice President of the Lukasiewicz Center for Research, alongside Prime Minister Donald Tusk and commanders of the Polish Armed Forces.

Łukasiewicz Research Network is establishing the Competence Centre for Missile and Ammunition Programmes. The initiative will integrate the research and development potential of a dozen or so Łukasiewicz institutes in the field of defence technologies. The role of the Centre’s coordinator has been entrusted to Łukasiewicz – Institute of Industrial Organic Chemistry, which has for years played a leading role in explosives, rocket propellants and advanced ammunition technologies.
