This recycler automatically returns the funds to your account. All you need to do is provide three words or a mobile phone number. The innovative device was developed through the cooperation of Łukasiewicz – Poznań Institute of Technology, Czysta Polska Recyclomaty company, and payment operator Tpay.
The device has been designed to be as easy to use and user-friendly as possible – the users will get to decide in what form will they get the refund of the deposit. From the classic solutions of a receipt or photo with a QR code to an instant transfer to an account that will be possible without giving out the account number.
How Will That Work?
- The customer will have the option of obtaining their individual password consisting of three words. It will encode their account number. When returning a bottle or a can, all the cutomer has to do is say their password, and the deposit will automatically be credited to their account.
Tomasz Markowski, dyrektor Centrum Transformacji Cyfrowej w Łukasiewicz – Poznańskim Instytucie Technologicznym
If someone does not want to use a password, they will be able to enter their phone number, and the money will be immediately returned to their account.
- When donating a bottle, you will not need to carry your phone. This innovative approach not only enhances user convenience, but also ensures a high level of security, which is always a priority for us when handling payments. For those who do not want to set up a password for themselves or give out their phone number, there still remains the option of a printed receipt with a QR code. It will be redeemable in a store. For those paying particular attention to ecology or habitually losing receipts, QR codes will be able to be photographed and shown in a store.
Paweł Działak, CEO i co-founder Tpay
Convenience
The idea behind the recyclomat was convenience. The device will be able to not only be available in stores, but also parks, squares, stadiums – wherever people gather and consume drinks. It can also be easily used by children who do not have payment cards and may lose the receipt.
- Our devices are designed with the user in mind, offering a simple and intuitive interface. This makes it easy, quick, and convenient to use, which will encourage more people to recycle.
Maciej Nowak, Dyrektor ds. Rozwoju w Grupie Czysta Polska
The recyclomat is versatile and can be programmed according to the customer’s needs. It may work differently in a store belonging to a retail chain (e.g. printing only receipts for use at the cash register), and differently in an office building or a school.
Ecology
The device, the goal of which is to make it easier to care for the environment, has itself been made in a sustainable way. Its housing is made of recycled plastic.
The deposit system, which will come into force on January 1, 2025, will cover plastic bottles up to 3 l, glass bottles up to 1.5 l, and metal cans up to 1 l. The deposit for plastic and metal packaging will be PLN 0.5, for glass one – PLN 1. These funds will be given back to customers when a can or a bottle is returned.
The obligation to accept used bottles and cans will apply to all stores with a surface area of more than 200 sq m. Smaller ones can join the system, but they don’t have to.
