
Damian Gąsiorek
Acting Director
He managed many teams and has been involved in research and development work concerning Industry 4.0 technologies for more than 10 years. A co-author and author of several patents applied in industrial solutions. His professional experience includes organising and running start-ups as well as holding management positions in large Polish companies. He has led and conducted research in more than a dozen national and European funded scientific research projects. For eight years, he was the Deputy Dean for Cooperation with the Social-Economic Environment at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology, where, among other things, several state-of-the-art laboratories were set up with industrial partners. He won numerous awards, including for technical solutions he has developed with teams of students, such as the Focus lens for the design of a spokeless hybrid bicycle printed on 3D printers. In recent years, he has been particularly involved in work concerning the application of Industry 4.0 technologies, in particular incremental technologies, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence.
Education
He is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Silesian University of Technology. He obtained his doctoral degree in the discipline of mechanics from the same faculty. A habilitated doctor in technical sciences, academic lecturer as professor at the Silesian University of Technology, and lecturer in MBA studies. Member of scientific and technical organisations, author of numerous scientific publications. Member of the Polish Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics. Co-organiser and for many years the secretary of the Symposium “Modelling in Mechanics”.
Passion
In his free time, he actively spends time with his loved ones, plays the accordion, and reads books. For several years now, he runs his own apiary, where he obtains natural honeys. A hobby gardener experienced in terms of in planting and caring for grassland.
