\u0141ukasiewicz Research Network and Amentum Poland have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at developing and implementing advanced technological solutions supporting the energy transition, security and industrial competitiveness. The partnership will cover areas including nuclear energy, space technologies, dual-use solutions, advanced materials and engineering systems. <\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Minister of Science: This partnership responds to global challenges<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The signing ceremony was attended by Minister of Science and Higher Education Marcin Kulasek. \u201cThe cooperation agreement with Amentum, a global leader, marks a new chapter in many areas. Today, unique domestic research potential is being combined with powerful international experience,\u201d the Minister said. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis new partnership will cover sectors that are absolutely strategic for our security and development: from robotics and unmanned systems, through waste recycling and the modernisation of military equipment, to the \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network Space Research Programme. It sounds impressive and fits perfectly into today\u2019s global challenges. We must be ready to respond to them \u2014 and this is exactly what is happening,\u201d the head of the Ministry of Science added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

A global leader joins forces with \u0141ukasiewicz<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The agreement paves the way for joint research and development projects and the commercialisation of technologies on European markets. Knowledge exchange and the shared use of the infrastructure of the 22 institutes of the \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network will focus on highly complex technological projects addressed to both industry and the public sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cBy combining the research and development competences of the \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network with Amentum\u2019s international experience, we want to create solutions that will have a real impact on security, infrastructure resilience and industrial competitiveness. This partnership opens the way to joint projects with a high level of technological advancement, with both Poland and the wider European market in mind,\u201d said Pavol Stuller, Managing Director for Central and Eastern Europe at Amentum. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amentum is a global leader in advanced engineering solutions and innovative technologies, trusted to solve the most significant and complex challenges in science, security and sustainability. The company has been present in Poland since 2014, acting as a technical advisor in the implementation of the country\u2019s first nuclear power plant project. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141ukasiewicz competences for nuclear energy<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the key areas of cooperation will be support for the Polish nuclear energy programme. \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Warsaw Institute of Technology, which will take the leading role on behalf of the Network, has extensive competences in this field, as well as laboratories unique in the region, including facilities for high-temperature testing of materials used in energy installations. These competences will be combined with Amentum\u2019s experience as a global leader in managing the full life cycle of nuclear energy projects \u2014 from design and licensing to operations and maintenance. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cNuclear energy is an area in which the Network is now dynamically building its competences,\u201d said Hubert Cichocki, PhD, President of the \u0141ukasiewicz Centre. \u201cThanks to the broad agreement between \u0141ukasiewicz and the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission, thousands of our researchers and engineers have gained access to cutting-edge European infrastructure in the field of nuclear energy. Today, we have become a partner of one of the largest global corporations operating in this area. This is another step in the strategy we are consistently implementing,\u201d the President of \u0141ukasiewicz added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robots, unmanned vehicles and industrial waste disposal<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The partnership also involves the development of technologies for the defence and security industry, including the modernisation and maintenance of military equipment, unmanned systems and robotic solutions. From this perspective, \u0141ukasiewicz\u2019s competences in protective coatings and anti-corrosion technologies will be particularly important. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The cooperation will also cover the development of technologies related to the circular economy, including the recycling and disposal of industrial waste. The introduction of technological solutions to the European Union market requires compliance with strict regulatory and ESG standards. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cOur ambition is to build a full value chain: from research and technology scaling, through implementation on the domestic market, to successful entry into international markets,\u201d said Grzegorz Gudzbeler, DSc, Director of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Warsaw Institute of Technology. \u201cThanks to the competences of the Network\u2019s institutes, we are able to develop solutions that respond both to the needs of global industry and those of the local economy,\u201d he added. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 WIT will take the leading role in the cooperation, drawing on the resources of the other institutes of the Network. The Warsaw-based institute specialises, among other areas, in metal and materials processing, surface technologies, modern construction and equipment for industry. The Institute also carries out projects in the field of unmanned systems, including autonomous surface vessels, such as the Manta USV project, as well as solutions for the energy sector. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
