The \u0141ukasiewicz Center and \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Institute of Electrical Engineering have accepted a letter of intent from the Military Central Construction and Technology Office S.A. (WCBKT), a company belonging to the Polish Armaments Group (Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa, PGZ). The agreement paves the way for joint research and development work in the areas of national security and energy transformation. The management of \u0141ukasiewicz and PGZ signed the document during the 33rd International Defense Industry Exhibition (MSPO) in Kielce.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The cooperation includes the development of power electronic systems for bidirectional conversion of electrical energy, which will be used in power supply systems for aviation facilities and infrastructure in both the military and civilian markets. The parties also plan to develop energy storage systems using battery and supercapacitor technologies, which will stabilize the operation of mobile power sources.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another area is electric and hybrid drive systems and control and communication systems for special vehicles, including aircraft tugs. An important element of the cooperation will also be the development of hydrogen technologies, including hydrogen storage, its conversion in fuel cells, and its use in combustion engines in stationary and mobile solutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cWCBKT wants to introduce an innovative energy security product to the Polish market. As an entity with extensive expertise in this area, we will help to quickly and efficiently modernize it to meet the current requirements of Polish defense,\u201d explains Sebastian Wydra, head of \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 IEL. \u201cThe product is intended for the military, for charging aircraft, but it will also find application in civil aviation,\u201d he reveals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cThis agreement is a practical example of the implementation of the strategic partnership we have entered into with the Polish Armaments Group,\u201d comments Hubert Cichocki, President of the \u0141ukasiewicz Center. \u201cThe idea is for the institutes of the \u0141ukasiewicz Research Network to cooperate with those companies of the PGZ Group whose activities they complement. I hope that this cooperation will result in products that are not only award-winning, but also sold.
