Bioremediation is a technology that will double the amount of creosote oil in the soil in a year. It was developed by scientists from \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Pozna\u0144 Institute of Technology, in cooperation with researchers from Pozna\u0144 University of Technology and \u0141\u00f3d\u017a University of Technology.  <\/strong><\/h3>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-0fb2580 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"0fb2580\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-969b4fc\" data-id=\"969b4fc\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4c28a4d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"4c28a4d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Olej kreozotowy jest u\u017cywany do nasycania drewnianych podk\u0142ad\u00f3w kolejowych i s\u0142up\u00f3w teletechnicznych. Skutecznie chroni je przed wilgoci\u0105 czy rozwojem grzyb\u00f3w. Jest jednak wysoce toksyczny dla ludzi i \u015brodowiska. Ze wzgl\u0119du na zawarto\u015b\u0107 wielopier\u015bcieniowych w\u0119glowodor\u00f3w aromatycznych (WWA) zaliczany jest do \u015brodk\u00f3w kancerogennych. Z tego powodu jego stosowanie jest mocno ograniczone. Mog\u0105 go u\u017cywa\u0107 tylko przedsi\u0119biorstwa z odpowiednim pozwoleniem. Autoklawy s\u0142u\u017c\u0105ce do nasycania drewna s\u0105 zawsze zlokalizowane na \u015bwie\u017cym powietrzu. Gdy powstaje wyciek \u2013 zanieczyszczon\u0105 kreozotem gleb\u0119 trzeba oczy\u015bci\u0107.       <\/p>\n<p>However, this is not easy, because due to the high content of PAHs, creosote does not decompose quickly enough by naturally occurring microorganisms in soil or water.<\/p>\n<p>Many methods are used \u2013 often physicochemical, in which the purification process requires energy-intensive stages of pumping air or water. A large part of the methods is so ineffective that it is necessary to transport the contaminated soil to external decontamination piles. <\/p>\n<h4>Bioremediation<\/h4>\n<p>Researchers from \u0141ukasiewicz \u2013 Pozna\u0144 Institute of Technology, Pozna\u0144 University of Technology and \u0141\u00f3d\u017a University of Technology have developed a new soil bioremediation technology that is effective and cheap.<\/p>\n<p>They used microorganisms grown in bioreactors \u2013 bacteria and enzymes obtained from fungi \u2013 that transform toxic organic compounds into simpler and harmless substances. Before the scientists selected the composition of the biopreparation, they tested more than a dozen research variants in the laboratory. <\/p>\n<p>The soil they cleared &#8211; from the railroad ties saturation plant &#8211; had been contaminated for decades. In addition, it was very demanding soil &#8211; with high density and water capacity. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5d026e6 elementor-blockquote--skin-boxed elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"5d026e6\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t- By conducting laboratory scale tests on moderately contaminated soil, we were able to reduce polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons by 80% within three months. In turn, in technical tests, the PAH content always decreased more than twice in a year. \t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-q-footer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">dr in\u017c. The duration of bioremediation depends on the soil properties, the degree of soil contamination, and the weather. During spring and summer, the purification accelerates, in autumn and winter the microorganisms hibernate and wait for better conditions.  <\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-4975c1c elementor-blockquote--skin-boxed elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"4975c1c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t- This technology has been prepared for the most unfavourable soil conditions that can be found in Poland.\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-q-footer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">dr in\u017c. Researchers at \u0141ukasiewicz &#8211; PIT are now working on technology for the disposal of used wooden railroad ties treated with creosote oil.
